are accurate. But they give a false impression of the true nature of the controversy. Among skeptics, there are various theories about how the image was formed. There are certainly as many theories among those who think it is real. The statement "that some believers are willing to accept supernatural explanations" should perhaps read, "a minority of believers."
While the article deals extensively with the carbon 14 dating, further in, suggesting only the most implausible explanation for why the carbon 14 dating may be wrong is inadequate.
