a bas-relief rubbing fails 2nd face criteria
. . . in referece to the wikipedia text,
Using a Bas-Relief
There is a faint second face on the reverse side of the cloth. Both the image on the front side of the cloth and on the backside are completely superficial and there are no imaged fibers in between. It is impossible to imagine how a bas relief rubbing with pigment was done on both sides of the cloth.
This mage bearing material, a polysaccharide, is not paint and not paint medium. The images are not bas relief rubbings of a human body.
